One of the things I'm so very excited about with our new house is to make it our home. I can't wait for our refrigerator to fill up with pictures, put blankets on the couch, paint the walls a warm color. Sarah and I both had this extreme urge to "stage" our last homes in order to sell them. Our husbands both thought we were headed off the deep end because it turned into a bit of an obsession (which, I have to say, did work out for both of us, guys!). So, this time around I'm determined to start decorate our home from the beginning.
I'm so excited to start making things! My list has started to grow. The first project is going to be blankets for all the kiddos' beds. Now, I admit, there are some really, really cute things in Pottery Barn Kids and we have our fair share but I love hand making things, I get such satisfaction out of making something with my hands instead of buying it at a store. Anything from a hat for Charlie, blanket for Noah, or bread for our family to enjoy. Things are just better if I take the time to make them. They might not turn out as "perfect" as the one in the store but I find that sometimes the imperfections are what really makes them special. Plus, the sense of accomplishment I get when I make something instead of store buying, it makes my day! And on top of that, Tom has perfected the art of oooing and aahhhing over the years. I do like oooo's and aahhh's!

Here's what I've been working on the last few weeks. I can't show a finished picture 'til tomorrow. I don't want to give away any surprises for Ms. Grace's birthday.

As for the next project on my list? Turn this fabric into a picnic blanket (or two) for our upcoming lunches at the park.
